VML MY WORKING WARDROBE!

Verónica on The Soroity website again! Read about her brilliant fashion tips!

Verónica Moncho Lobo, Design Director and Co-Founder of VML Design, shares her style secrets as she reveals her working wardrobe.
How would you describe your work style?
I love dressing up and feeling good. As a fashion designer I am very lucky because I get to choose pieces from my collections. I love to feel confident and comfortable, and I love bright colors. Before I have my own line I used to make a dress for myself here and there, or for special occasions. Now I have a whole VML wardrobe and therefore I wear mostly my own dresses.
The jacket and dress are from the S/S 2012 collection, in off white and black colours. The dress is a little shift dress, 60′s looking, and very comfortable. The jacket is a 3/4 sleeve length in wool jersey which I love to wear as well with black skin tight trousers. My shoes are from Christian Louboutin.
How do fashion trends influence your work style?
I really like to create classic and timeless pieces that you never get tired of and that you can accessorize in such different ways that people won’t even realize it is the same dress. And I’d always rather overdress than underdress. And if everyone is wearing red I will tend to wear blue, as I like to be different.
How do you personalise your work attire?
I love matching shoes with clutches from different designers, in same color shade. But it also depends on the mood or the outfit; sometimes I do a total contrast and choose opposite colors. Love working on my hairdos, using gel to create a sleek look. Lately I have been blow-drying my hair with the ends rolling out in a 60’s style. I also like to use belts to accentuate the silhouette. In jewelry I keep it simple and classic, love this pair of pearl and gold earrings I have.
Royal Ascot enclosure. I am wearing a Phillip Treacy hat which I adore… and a feather weight organza coat together with a very comfortable black silk jersey and organza dress from my S/S 2011.
What is the most important aspect of your work outfit?
The most important thing for a work outfit is that I feel comfortable so that I can move naturally. I usually go for dresses that are easy to accessorize and do not have to worry about having to mix and match. They are comfortable and feminine for any occasion really.
What are your tips on dressing fashionable but professional?
I would encourage people to wear more colors, not to be afraid of them, especially if it is a classic style so you keep the look current but with a fresh and modern twist. If you wear skirts or dresses, in my opinion, knee length is always professional and chic and of course I would suggest wearing high heels to elongate the figure.
This is one of my favourite evening gowns, born in my first capsule collection in 2008. The inspiration behind is the Japanese kimono, and the name is Aida.
What do you love about dressing for the evening?
I love getting in the mood; so the first thing is getting the music going…. Choosing the outfit and accessories so I know what nail polish to go for. Then the earrings, a ring and a bracelet. And finally I go for the evening make-up and hair-do. The whole process of getting ready is so much fun, especially the black tie evenings, when you have to wear a long dress. I feel it is when most women invest the time in pampering themselves – or at least I do!
When I am in a good mood to party, what is better than a leather dress? Soften the look up with a tiny golden belt and a funky bolero from the A/W 2011-12 collection. Accessories are my Zagliani clutch, which I often use, and my tiny little necklaces from Icepinkim.
